In previous Olympic Games, you will see many athletes using their own water cups. However, due to different sports, the water cups used by these athletes are also different. Some athletes have very special water cups, but we have also seen that some athletes look like after using them. Disposable mineral water bottles are also discarded. Today I will talk about what kind of water cups athletes usually use.
I carefully watched some videos of Olympic competitions at different times, and I did see many athletes drinking from their own water cups between games, but I didn’t see any footage of athletes throwing away their water cups.
Next, let’s talk about the water bottles I saw used by athletes. I saw a Chinese table tennis player using a stainless steel thermos cup with a pop-up lid.
I saw that the British rowing athletes were using plastic water cups. According to the footage they were using, the water cups should be made of PETE. The material is relatively soft and can be easily squeezed out by the athletes’ hands. This material can only hold cold water and normal temperature water. Due to the heat, It will release harmful substances, so it is not recommended to install high-temperature hot water.
I saw that tennis players also use plastic water cups, which have a relatively large capacity and a custom structure. Judging from the texture and hardness of the water cup, it should be a tritan type. Why it is said to be tritan is mainly because of the safety of the material.
Regarding the water cups seen in other sports, we found that they are basically stainless steel and plastic, and the usage structures are basically the same. The stainless steel water cup has a pop-up cover structure, and the plastic water cup has a straw structure. Since all the games I watched were for the Summer Olympics, I think for the Winter Olympics, due to the season, the water cups brought by the athletes should all be made of metal, and stainless steel water cups should be the main ones. I don’t know if titanium water cups are recognized by the Olympic Games. It is used in competitions, so I am not sure if any athletes use titanium water bottles.
