To figure out what’s going on, start by looking online for answers. I got two completely different explanations. One is that orange peels will deteriorate if soaked for a long time, and the smooth surface of the water cup wall is only caused by the adsorption of deteriorated substances; the other is that orange peels contain substances similar to citric acid. , will corrode the surface of the object, but because the acidity is very small, it will not damage the metal, but it will soften and decompose the daily remaining impurities on the metal surface into the water, so that the wall of the water cup will be smoother.
In line with a scientific and rigorous attitude, we found three water cups with different inner liner conditions for testing. The inner liner of A was not cleaned properly due to trying to make tea, and a large number of tea stains remained on the wall of the cup; the inner liner of B was a brand new one, but it was not cleaned. , use it as if it has just been purchased; C the inner tank should be carefully cleaned and dried.
Pour approximately equal amounts of orange peel into the three inner pots, brew with 300 ml of boiling water for each, then cover and let sit for 8 hours. After 8 hours, I opened the water cup. After pouring out the three water cups and drying them, you can see that there is a clear dividing line on the inner wall of cup A. The lower part soaked in water is brighter, and the upper part is slightly darker than before. However, because the lower part is obviously brighter, you will feel that the upper part has changed in comparison. Darker. There is also a dividing line inside the B water cup, but it is not as obvious as the A water cup. The lower part is still brighter than the upper part of the cup wall, but it is not as obvious as the A cup.
The dividing line inside the C water cup is almost invisible unless you look carefully, and the upper and lower parts are basically the same color. I touched the three water cups with my hands and found that the lower parts were indeed smoother than the upper parts. After cleaning all the water cups, I found that the dividing line in the inner tank of water cup A was still obvious. Therefore, through real tests, the editor concluded that the orange peel after being soaked in high-temperature hot water has a negative impact on the water cup. The inner wall can indeed play a cleaning role. The more impurities inside the water cup, the more obvious the dirt will be. However, it is recommended to rinse with clean water before use after soaking.
